What is IUI?
Intrauterine insemination(IUI) is one of options for women to conceive, it is a type of artificial insemination in which sperms concentrated and washed are placed in uterus considering best time of the month when ovary releases one or more eggs, as a mandate this procedure is done during ovulation hence results are confirmed only post 2 weeks of process, this is one of most adopted options for couples with unexplained infertility or women with cervical mucus problems, success of this process will depend on individual medical situation.

IUI Process
It is a process in which concentrated motile sperm collected from the male partner are injected directly into the female partner’s uterus.

Follicular monitoring of the ovary starts from day 9 0r 10 of the menstrual cycle till the follicle ruptures. IUI is done on the day of the follicle rupture
Insemination
The concentrated sample of the sperm is injected directly into the uterus of the female and the complete procedure is painless.
Pregnancy
This is the last step of the IUI procedure and is conducted generally 14 days after the insemination of the sperms into the uterus, to see whether the treatment is successful or not.

The cost of the IUI procedure is around INR 8,000- 20,000/ cycle depending on the city & upon the medical condition of both partners. The cost may vary depending on the medication and injectables for follicular stimulation.
